"Guitar Hero" helps Activision post 4th-qtr profit

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Activision Inc posted higher-than-expected profit on Thursday as ongoing demand for its "Guitar Hero 3" and "Call of Duty 4" video games offset an absence of new releases.

Net profit was $44.2 million, or 14 cents per share, for its fourth fiscal quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $14.4 million, or 5 cents per share, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 93 percent to $602.5 million.
