The globetrotting journey has come to a disappointing end for carefree cousins *Adam and Dane Corowa *, who last night became the first team eliminated from *The Amazing Race Australia * after landing a time penalty for breaching a competition rule.
Despite placing seventh in the second leg in Delhi, India, the duo - who came ninth in last week's trek through the Philippines - were given a 30-minute time penalty for selling their shoes to pay for transport to the final stop.
Adam, 30, said the penalty was a shock to him and Dane, 29, because they assumed they could sell their belongings.
"We didn't think it was the stuff that we took that we couldn't sell, because we were allowed to take some shoes and shorts and a few extras, so we thought we'll just sell this because it's our stuff," Adam told _AAA _. "But then it turned out you're not allowed to sell anything at all."
The cousins had money troubles early in the race and on many occasions found themselves swindled by taxi drivers and even short-changed when exchanging currencies.
"Dane had actually been getting ripped off pretty much the whole way through the Philippines and we had a chat about it and I told him 'Look, you can't keep doing that'," Adam said.
Though disappointed to be the first team eliminated from the reality race, Adam believed pairing with his cousin has brought the two - who live in separate States with Dane in Queensland and Adam in NSW - closer together.
The Amazing Race Australia airs Wednesday at 9pm on Seven/GWN7.VANESSA WILLIAMS
