French tennis player Michael Llodra has condemned Wimbledon's famed grass courts as "catastrophic" and claimed they were getting worse by the year.
The left-hander, who saw off Britain's Joshua Goodall, 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 3-6 6-4 to make the last 64, said the surfaces were already deteriorating.
"The courts are catastrophic. There are bad bounces. It's only the second day and court two is already damaged. I don't know how they are going to be at the end."
Llodra's first round tie was played on the new court two, which boasts a sunken arena and 4,000 seats.
"Year after year, the courts are getting worse. I prefer (the clay courts of) Roland Garros. The centre court and court one there, when they are dry, are much faster."
