Contented Chambers looks at bigger world picture

The West Australian June 25, 2009, 1:15 pm

Disgraced British sprinter Dwain Chambers declared himself satisfied with his performance after timing 10.16 seconds in the 100 metres at an athletics meeting here in France.

The 31-year-old, who served a two-year suspension after testing positive for the designer steroid THG in 2003, was coming off a prestigious victory in a European 100m team event in Portugal at the weekend.

"It is still a good time, especially as I haven't really recovered from the exertions at the weekend," said Chambers.

"I wouldn't have minded a bit more of a tailwind (+ 0.3).

"But that isn't too serious, as my target remains as I have already said the world championships in Berlin in August (August 15-23)."

Chambers, who has had problems finding invitations from international athletics meets but did win in another French meeting in Montreuil earlier this month, is banned from competing in the Olympics and last year lost a High Court challenge against the British Olympic Association suspension.
