Public transport boosted for concert

The West Australian July 2, 2009, 1:15 pm

Transperth has scheduled extra train services to help patrons get home from the Simon and Garfunkel concert at Burswood Dome tonight.

The event is joint-ticketed, which means ticket holders are also entitled to travel on all Transperth services for three hours before, during and three hours after the concert.

People who pick up their tickets at Burswood will only be able to access the travel entitlement after the concert.

Train services will operate to a normal weekday timetable on all lines. Thornlie Line services stop at Burswood Train Station. Armadale Line passengers will need to transfer at Cannington Station to catch a Thornlie train.

Following the event, a total of seven timetabled and special event trains will leave Burswood Station for Perth between 10.34pm and 11.17pm.

Because of resleepering works, rail replacement buses will be operating on the Midland line after 7pm and the journey may take longer.

Train services on all other lines will operate on a normal weekday timetable with the following special concert services. Armadale Line from Burswood at 10:53pm; Fremantle Line from Perth at 11:15pm; Joondalup Line from Perth at 11:20pm; Mandurah Line: from Perth at 11:20pm.

These trains will be stopping at all stations.

More information is available from www.transperth.wa.gov.au or the Transperth InfoLine 136213.
