Tamati Coffey bids 'Breakfast' farewell

Tamati Coffey has announced he is leaving TV One's 'Breakfast' show.

The popular weather presenter told viewers this morning that he was taking a sabbatical from all television for six months, but would be returning to screens next year for another round of 'New Zealand's Got Talent'.

Coffey says he and his partner are planning on doing some travel during his six months off work.

"Me and my partner are going to the other side of the world, so I'm going to take a bit of a sabbatical from TVNZ, and go and have some fun," he said.

"I'm just after a little bit of a change - these hours on ‘Breakfast’ do get to you after a while."

'Saturday Breakfast' weather presenter Sam Wallace is set to take over Coffey’s weekday duties in the New Year.

Coffey's announcement follows co-host Petra Bagust's decision to leave the morning show. Toni Street was named as her replacement earlier this month.
