A man is in a serious condition with stab wounds to the chest after an aggravated robbery in Napier last night.
The man was injured with a small knife while he was working at the Mill Liquor Save bottle store on Gloucester St in Taradale at around 6.30pm.
The staff member also received a laceration to his arm when he tried to fight off the two offenders. He is in a serious condition in Wellington Hospital.
Detective Senior Sergeant Emmet Lynch says it is a serious situation for police and the public. He says the victim was stabbed very early on with no provocation and it is extremely lucky police are not dealing with a death.
