Lottery winners to spend $61m on 'new carpet'

A builder and his wife who won a jackpot of almost $61 million intend to spend the fortune on a Manchester United executive box and new carpet.

Gareth and Catherine Bull won the EuroMillions draw on January 20 and have come forward to claim their prize and celebrate their victory.

The couple, from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, also want to take their two sons to Disneyland.

"I did say a carpet for my landing because it's terrible, nobody's allowed upstairs," Catherine told a press conference.

"I get to the top of the stairs every day and I'm like 'I hate that carpet'."

Gareth said they don't plan on buying a glamorous mansion.

"We have our dream home which we built from scratch and it is impossible to think about what we are going to do next yet," he said.

Mr Bull also wants to splash out on a Range Rover and a villa somewhere.

It's not really a heart warming story of rags to riches is it? They appear to be well groomed, give the impression that they are financially comfotable before the win. Plus they have already built their dream home. Hopefully they will support many charities along the way, even if they just gave out the interest earned on that money.

Before tumbling any further with this vitriol, let’s clarify a few things about feminism. Feminism, in the most traditional sense of the term, is a movement that found its roots in the idea of suffrage, or the right for women to vote freely and...
