Key praised for handling of tape leak

A political commentator says John Key has been much better at handling the latest development in the saga of the infamous teapot tape.

The conversation between him and John Banks has been posted on line.

Otago University's Dr Bryce Edwards says it's hard to see how it was worth the effort for Mr Key to report the matter to police.

"Putting forward a fairly humble apology to anyone who might have been offended. That will come over a lot better than his more aggressive approach he took towards the media before the election," he says.

Dr Bryce Edwards says the leaking of the tape was inevitable.

There's a call by Labour's leader for the mainstream media to be allowed to report on the recording of the so-called teapot tape.

The election campaign conversation between John Banks and John Key was released on the internet yesterday but because it's under police investigation, media can not reveal what the pair chatted about.

David Shearer believes that investigation is a waste of police time and resources.

He says complicating the issue is that the tapes could be released overseas and are all over the internet.

"This is completely unnecessary and I think the mainstream media should just be allowed to run it. John Key has already come out and apologised for his comments and it seems ridiculous that he's apologising for a comment that you on the other hand, are not allowed to run them," he told Newstalk ZB.

So, more ShonKey lies being exposed. He said when this debacle arose that he didn't say anything that he regretted, that it was just a social chat. Now he's apologising if he offended anyone. How anyone can priase his handling of this debacle escapes me. If he'd fessed up at the time and apologised, maybe, but this is just another example of poor leadership and duplicity.

He invited the media to a conversation and expected it to be private..This is where JK isn't in the real world.

Some idiots think it was J.K. that was using the teapot incident as a diversionary tactic when it was really Winston Peters. He's the one that carried it on and on and on. And Peters should have been arrested for revealing the contents for his election campaign.

How many times did we see the media trying to interview Clarke and all they got was, no comment. We the puplic had a right to know for what ever it was about. This means we should be aloud to know what is said by every mp. Like we all know, without the tape Peters would not be there, he went trom just under 3% from the polls to what was it 7 % . If we didn't have mmp he would still be a nat mp, or he would be gone.

Before tumbling any further with this vitriol, let’s clarify a few things about feminism. Feminism, in the most traditional sense of the term, is a movement that found its roots in the idea of suffrage, or the right for women to vote freely and...
