Earthquake recorded south of Nelson

Nelson residents were jolted by a magnitude 3.8 earthquake at 7.30am on Sunday morning.

The quake was at depth of 70 kilometres and was located 30km south of Nelson, GNS Science said.

It was mostly reported to be felt around the Motueka area, to the west of Nelson.
