Rodney Hide says sorry

Newstalk ZB November 8, 2009, 5:11 pm

A very apologetic Rodney Hide has finally fronted up over his taxpayer-funded overseas trips with his girlfriend.

The ACT Leader says he got it wrong and he wants to apologise to the public, his colleagues and most importantly the people of Epsom.

Earlier in the week, Mr Hide paid back $10,000 of taxpayers money he used to pay for a private holiday to Hawaii. He is now also going to pay back the $11,000 he spent to take his girlfriend Louise Crome to London.

Mr Hide has further promised he will never again use taxpayers' money for any overseas holiday.

Its now time to reflect on what he has achieved as a Politician and what he is likely to achieve for the country. These are indiscretions for which he appears to have paid the price, not criminal offences. Time to move on, unless of course there are some personal crusades out there, in which case this will drag on for months.
