A former international rugby league star will appear in court on assault charges next week.
The 45-year-old man is alleged to have scuffled with his daughter outside a Waikato police station about 1pm on Friday.
A witness says the man jumped out of a vehicle and ran towards two women coming out of the police station, Fairfax reported.
The man grabbed the girl around the neck and the girl fell to the ground.
Hamilton Police media spokesman Andrew McAlley confirmed to NZ Newswire that a 45-year-old man had been charged with assault.
