An elderly man died after being struck by a car as he collected the mail outside his home on a rural road near Christchurch.
Arthur Rowlands, 76, suffered head injuries when he was hit by a car on a road with a 100km/h speed limit at Ohoka, north of Christchurch, on Saturday morning.
He was taken to Christchurch Hospital but later died, police confirmed to NZ Newswire.
Mr Rowlands was collecting the mail when he was struck, the New Zealand Herald reported.
