One dead in West Coast truck crash

One person is dead and two are injured after a truck crash in a gorge on the West Coast.

The accident happened just after midday on Sunday in the Otira Gorge, southeast of Greymouth near Arthur's Pass National Park, police say.

One person died at the scene and two others were injured, including the truck driver, and have been flown to Christchurch Hospital.

The truck was headed to the West Coast from Christchurch when the crash happened.
