A woman left paralysed after an accident on a high speed jetboat in the Bay of Islands says $90,000 compensation she's been awarded means little to her.

"I'm not exactly jumping for joy," said Cathy Cooke, 53, who sustained serious spinal injuries when thrown into the air on a trip off Paihia on the high speed boat Mack Attack in December 2010.

Seafort Holdings Ltd was ordered to pay $30,000 in fines and the reparations to Ms Cooke during sentencing in Auckland District Court on Monday after being prosecuted by Maritime New Zealand (MNZ).

The company pleaded guilty to failing to take all practicable steps to ensure passenger safety and failing to notify the director of MNZ about the incident as soon as possible.

In her victim impact statement, Ms Cooke described having to deal with constant doctor's appointments, ACC meetings and specialist sessions.

"We all experience stress and frustration. My claim to a zillion times more frustration would be accurate. I cannot describe it enough," she said.

Plans for walks, bike rides, visits and barbecues have had to be cancelled or turned down because of her injury, Fairfax reports.

Mack Attack owner Richard John Prentice has also been charged over an unrelated incident on January 2011.

Mr Prentice denies the charge and is due to appear in the Kaikohe District Court on July 27.

The owner of the Paihia-based Excitor III, Intercity Group (NZ) Ltd, was also ordered on Monday to pay $270,000 in fines and reparations after three women broke their backs on sightseeing trips.
