A man pulled on fire from a Hastings public toilet in February has died.
The 41-year-old man was critically injured with burns after he was engulfed in flames in the toilets on King St North about 8.30am on February 19.
He was put into an induced coma in Hawke's Bay Hospital that night before being taken to Middlemore Hospital in south Auckland with severe burns.
His condition improved at first but subsequently got worse and he died about two weeks ago, hospital spokeswoman Lauren Young told NZ Newswire.
Staff at the Sutto Cafe in Hastings were praised at the time for pulling the man from the toilets and putting out the fire.
His death has been referred to the coroner.
