Kiwi actress to star on NCIS Los Angeles

Former Shortland Street actress Kimberley Crossman has secured a guest role on the popular crime television series NCIS Los Angeles.

Crossman, who has been auditioning for shows for most of 2012, revealed her new role on Twitter and will start next week.

"Whooohoooo pretty excited right now... Get to film on Monday for a pretty awesome show opp a pretty awesome actor!!! Ekkkkk," she tweeted.

NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigations Service) Los Angeles, which is a spin off of the NCIS series, attracts more than 15 million viewers and stars Chris O'Donnell as special agent G. Callen.

Crossman, who is also a dancer and cheerleader, played teenager Sophie McKay on Shortland Street before she left the show last year.
