Police are still looking for two prisoners who escaped custody and disappeared from Lower Hutt District Court last week.

Steven Tony Sinclair, 35, and Graham James Cope, 18, were at the court on Thursday facing burglary charges when they overpowered a prisoner escort officer and fled.

Sinclair is Maori, of medium build and about 1.67m tall. Cope is Maori, of medium build and about 1.63m tall.

Detective Sergeant Dean Simpson, of Lower Hutt police, said the two men were not believed to be associated in any way, other than being at court on the same day.
