Man dies after Timaru stabbing

A 44-year-old Timaru man has died after being taken to hospital with stab wounds.

Police, who were called to a house in the suburb of Marchwiel about 6.50pm on Saturday, have named the man as Tony Francis Crammond.

They say he died shortly after being taken to Timaru Hospital.

Mr Crammond's body was taken to Christchurch where a post mortem was carried out on Sunday afternoon,

Police and an ESR forensic scientist have been examining the scene of the death on Sunday and that work would continue on Monday, police said in a statement.

Police have spoken to people at the scene when the stabbing occurred, but no one has been charged.
