Man sues deodorant maker over lacklustre love life

A man has launched a legal case against the makers of a deodorant after it failed to help land him a girlfriend.

Vaibhav Bev is suing the firm that manufactures Lynx after succumbing to ads in which gorgeous women throw themselves at men wearing the scent.

The Indian national is claiming compensation for "depression and psychological damage" after regular use failed to give him the desired result.

He is seeking $100,000 in damages after using the brand, called 'Axe' in his home country, for seven years.

The marketing campaign for Lynx features ordinary men who suddenly become irresistible to the opposite sex after dousing themselves in anti-perspirant.

But despite using it since 2002, "no girl came to me," says Bev.

Lawyer Ram Jethmalani has advised Unilever, to settle out of court. He said any claims that Bev failed to find a girlfriend because he was unattractive were unlikely to succeed.

"In fact, some of the best-looking women have been known to marry and date absolutely ghoulish guys," he told the Daily Record.
