Toddler killed after cow kick named

The toddler who died on Wednesday after being kicked by a cow has been named.

Jack Tatham, 21-months-old, was taken to Southland Hospital after the accident happened on a farm on Tuesday.

He was transferred to Dunedin Hospital where he died on Wednesday.

In a family statement given to the Southland Times, the boys parents Jimmy and Keri say it was a "freak accident" and he will be sorely missed.

The death will be referred to the coroner.
