Police hunt van attacker

Police are seeking the help of the public in regards to a serious assault which occurred on the Tweed Street/Elles Road intersection vicinity at about 12.40 a.m. on Sunday 29th January 2012.

One male pedestrian has been walking in the area where a white van, possibly a Toyota with tinted windows, has stopped and a male has got out of the vehicle to then seriously assault the victim.

This male is described a Caucasian, wearing a white T shirt. It is unknown if there were any other occupants in the van.

As a result the victim required treatment at Southland hospital as he received moderate facial injuries.
