More questions over Marryatt's pay rise

Newstalk ZB January 30, 2012, 9:00 am

There are more questions as to how councillors approved the pay increase for Christchurch City Council CEO Tony Marryatt despite reviews showing his performance was declining.

The reviews have just been released showing his overall performance fell from 4.3 out of 5 in 2010 to 4.1 last year.

Peter Lynch is organising this Wednesday's protest against the council's performance.

He says the new documents raise even more questions.

"You look across all the performance ratings, they've all dropped from 2009 to 2011," he told Newstalk ZB.

"I'm flabbergasted that Mayor Parker said it was an outstanding performance review and Ngaire Button said it's amazing."

Tony Marryatt has since turned down his $68,000 pay rise.

Given the level of comment and protest we must be calling for parkers and Marriott’s resignation. their level of disregard for us is only overshadowed by their incompetence.
