Police seek info about Invercargill assault

Invercargill police are appealing for information about serious assault which has left a man with facial injuries.

A pedestrian was walking near the Tweed Street/Elles Road intersection about 12:20am yesterday morning, when a white van stopped.

Police say a male Caucasian wearing a white t-shirt got out of the vehicle and seriously assaulted the victim.

It's unknown if there were any other occupants in the van.

The victim was taken to Southland Hospital with moderate injuries to his face.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
