Two students are recovering from injuries caused by flying glass after a laboratory testing flask exploded at Canterbury University.
The small explosion shattered the flask during a purification exercise in the university's Rutherford Building, injuring the two postgraduate students on Wednesday afternoon.
The student performing the test suffered a hand injury, while the other person suffered a neck injury, a statement from the university says.
A Christchurch Hospital spokeswoman told NZ Newswire the students are being treated for moderate injuries and are likely to be discharged on Wednesday evening.
