Man nearly loses arm in chainsaw attack
A man’s arm was almost cut off when he was allegedly attacked with a chainsaw during what police believe was a neighbourhood dispute in Sydney’s southwest.
30-year-old Minto resident Mark Jorgensen is undergoing emergency surgery to his arm after the altercation.
Paramedics believe the arm might have to be amputated.
The 26-year-old alleged offender Troy Thornton lost a finger in the incident.
According to his sister Nicole Thornton, he did wield the chainsaw but did so in self defence.
“They’ve come over with weapons and we’ve had nothing, so my brother stood at the front door with the chainsaw and he’s been attacked and then there was a rumble for the chainsaw.”
She claims her brother’s finger was chopped off with a samurai sword.
“His finger’s not getting sewn back on. He’s lost his finger so sucked in to the bloke whose arm got chopped.”
Nicole Thornton is the the widow of Peter Reinhardt, who drowned in the Nepean River in March. He was reported missing after going boat ride late one night and his body was found a few days later,
It’s believed the disagreement started weeks ago over a dispute about noise.
Investigations are ongoing.
