New-age shopping list launched

NZ Newswire Updated May 11, 2012, 1:26 am

A supermarket chain has created a new-age approach to the shopping list which uses your camera phone to scan products in your pantry.

The Countdown iPhone app, launched on Friday, allows shoppers to create an online shopping list, scan barcodes, price check items and get alerts on specials for products they regularly buy.

The app also directs shoppers to the supermarket aisle where each item on their list can be found.

A statement from Countdown says the app is a New Zealand-first which helps shoppers to budget.
