The mother of an 11-year-old girl who took four siblings, all under the age of four, on a joyride is unlikely to face charges.
Police have spoken to the family of the girl who took the children for a ride in her mother's car on Sunday and pulled back into the driveway of her south Auckland home a short time later as police were talking to her distraught mother.
Senior Sergeant Laurie Culpan told Fairfax NZ the girl was too young to be punished for her actions and her mother was also unlikely to be charged.
Police are working with the girl's family to ensure she doesn't get behind the wheel again.
