The death of a 58-year-old woman in the lower North Island town of Marton is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.
The woman's body was found in an alleyway by a member of the public near Marton School on Hereford St on Wednesday morning.
The body has since been removed and police are contacting next of kin.
A central police communications spokesman told NZ Newswire the woman's death is not being treated as suspicious.
Police earlier said they had been contacted because of the "unusual" location where the body was found.
Marton is about 43km northwest of Palmerston North.
