The man charged after an Auckland woman was shot in the head has been remanded in custody after a brief court appearance.
The 60-year-old woman needed surgery to remove a bullet from her head after the incident in Druces Road in Manukau, in Auckland's southeast, in the early hours of Saturday.
The man, also 60, was arrested and charged with common assault over the shooting. His name was suppressed when he appeared in Manukau District Court on Monday.
He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on July 4, APNZ reports.
Police have said further serious charges are possible.
The woman is in a serious but stable condition in Middlemore Hospital, a Counties Manukau District Health Board spokeswoman said.
