Rastaman sought over armed robberies

NZ Newswire Updated July 16, 2012, 4:38 pm

Anyone harbouring a man wanted over two armed robberies in eastern Bay of Plenty faces prosecution, police say.

Tauranga police are seeking 19-year-old Rastaman Rapatini, also known as Rusty, in relation to robberies of a service station in Waihi and a dairy in Katikati on the morning of June 18.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Detective Sergeant Alan Kingsbury says Rapatini is aware he is wanted by police.

Sgt Kingsbury warned anybody hiding Rapatini, who has family connections in Mangakino, Te Aroha and Rotorua, from the police risks being arrested and prosecuted.

Two men, aged 17 and 19, have been arrested in connection with the robberies which took place in the space of 30 minutes.
