Kiwis have high levels of trust in police

NZ Newswire September 10, 2012, 3:33 pm

Kiwis continue to have high levels of trust and confidence in police, according to the results of the latest citizens' satisfaction survey.

The independently run survey asked almost 10,000 people throughout the country their views about police, their feelings of safety and what their experience was like if they recently had contact with police.

Deputy police commissioner Viv Rickard says it's pleasing to see trust and confidence remain so high.

"At 77 per cent, [the] New Zealand police's overall trust and confidence rating would also be the envy of many overseas police forces," he said.
