Extreme weather conditions have forced the closure of a number of North Island Highways.
They include State Highway One, the Desert Road, in Waiouru; State Highway Five - the Napier to Taupo Road; and State Highway 49 from Waiouru to Ohakune.
Police are also advising caution in other parts of the central North Island as well.
