An armed gunman remains on the loose in between Hawkes Bay and Tararua District.
Police have received reports of a man being seen with a gun near State Highway Two, about 10 kilometres from Norsewood, north of Dannevirke.
Police spokeswoman Kim Perks says shots have been fired, but she is not sure about the nature of injuries. It is understood a man crawled hi way toward help after being shot, and police are speaking with several witnesses.
