Zespri is forecasting a $48 million increase in payments to growers, despite the world recession.
The Mt Maunganui company anticipates that final payments will total $827 million, or $8.06 per tray.
Chief Executive Lain Jager cites positive impacts from reduced fuel costs in particular and improved foreign exchange movements compared with last season. He says the world fruit market has been severely impacted by the global recession this year, with many produce growers worldwide experiencing much lower returns than in previous seasons.
