The manure bust of Environment Minister Nick Smith has gone down a treat in Christchurch.
In a bid to raise awareness of the campaign to protect the Hurunui River from being dammed, Christchurch artist Sam Mahon has created a 3D sculpture of the Environment Minister's head using cow manure and resin.
The sculpture was unveiled at the Centre of Contemporary Art last night and received widespread approval. One person says it looked very much like Dr Smith, while others say it was a perfect way to raise awareness of the environmental damage the damming will cause.
The latest TradeMe bid for the bust is for $3,000. The auction closes on Friday night.
