A Wellington pianist and composer convicted of domestic violence may have destroyed his music career, his lawyer told the High Court in Wellington yesterday.
Dan Poynton, 44, was convicted in Wellington District Court of assault with intent to injure, repeatedly breaching a protection order and attempting to pervert the course of justice after a fight with his partner, The Dominion Post reported.
He was sentenced 10-1/2 months' home detention which he appealed yesterday.
His lawyer Geoff Fulton said the sentence would limit Poynton's ability to work and perform overseas.
The judge reserved his decision but indicated he would likely reduce Poynton's sentence to give credit for the three months he had spent in custody.
