The man accused of stabbing a Christchurch police dog has been excused a court appearance as he is still in hospital.
A 23-year-old man has been charged with attempting to murder a police officer and wounding a police dog.
Two police officers were stabbed in the chest and police dog Koal was stabbed in the head when police were called to a break in at Hoon Hay in late September.The man accused of attacking them was due to appear today, but remains in hospital recovering from injuries he incurred on the night - he will now appear at the end of the month.
Koal recovered enough to go back to work a couple of weeks ago.
