A new website will provide a one-stop shop for government data, Internal Affairs Minister Nathan Guy says.
The website, www.data.govt.nz, will act as a catalogue for data collected by government departments. It will not provide personal information.
The website would make it easier for businesses, researchers, analysts and journalists to access the data they needed, Mr Guy said.The site was not a data repository but linked to databases on other agencies' websites.
People would also be able to provide feedback on the website itself, Mr Guy said.
