Kaitaia police have launched a homicide inquiry after a woman was found dead in her home last night.
Emergency services were called to the 70-year-old woman's home in Matthews Ave at about 5.30pm after neighbours discovered her. Initial inquiries reveal a male was seen walking away from the house earlier in the day.
A 17-year-old man has been arrested on an unrelated matter but is of interest to the inquiry.
