Prime Minister John Key is making no comment on Rodney Hide's trip to Hawaii.
Hot on the heels of criticism of Mr Hide's official trip to Europe, where he took his partner Louise Crome, it has been revealed the couple also went to Hawaii on a trip that cost the taxpayer $10,000.
Mr Hide paid back the money for the Hawaii trip this week, when controversy erupted on news that Ms Crome's portion of the Europe trip cost $25,000. Mr Hide says he acted within the rules with the trip to London.
Mr Key's office says the Prime Minister's opinions on overseas travel have already been made very clear and no further comment will be made.
