A cheque for $315,000 will be handed to the Samoan government today, all of it donated by the New Zealand public.
The huge sum was collected for tsunami relief, in donations to Westpac Bank branches over the past five weeks.
Pacific Cooperation Foundation chairman Fa'amatuainu Tino Pereira says it is a stunning amount, and shows how generous New Zealanders can be.
He says it shows how much the community cares, especially when there is a lot of other fundraising going on at the same time.
The money will be handed over to the Samoan Prime Minister at a special ceremony this morning at 11 o'clock.

Yes i feel that if the Samoan Government is recieveing the money that their should be a form of accountability on how it will be used, in aid for the Samoan community who have lost everything..
I think it would be appropriate for the Samoan PM to give some sort of reporting later to the NZers on how their money was spent.
Don't think I fancy the idea of the Samoan PM accepting this cheque. Should be given to an aid org that is there and this would ensure the monies was spent where needed.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL SPORTSMAN THIS WEEKEND SUCCESSFUL OR NOT
