It is not clear what action, if any, the Maori Party will take over Te Tai Tokerau MP Hone Harawira's controversial remarks.
Party president Whatarangi Winiata met Mr Harawira last night to discuss an abusive email Harawira sent to a party backer, defending his trip to Paris.
The content of it has already prompted more than 20 complaints to the Race Relations Commissioner.
Commissioner Joris de Bres says while the language used was racist, freedom of speech protections mean the law has not been broken.
Dr Winiata said before last night's meeting there had been serious breaches of Maori Party protocols.
