The Karangahake Gorge in the Bay of Plenty is blocked after a car and a tanker collided.
The crash is two kilometres west of a rest area. There are no alternative routes available once traffic has left Paeroa for Waihi and motorists should expect delays.
Police are still assessing the victims but initial reports suggest no one has life-threatening injuries.
