SES crews mop up after Victoria storm

AAP November 21, 2009, 1:54 pm

State Emergency Services members are moping up following Friday's storm which caused havoc on roads, brought trees and branches down and cut power to more than 15,000 homes and businesses in Melbourne's outer west.

A Powercor spokesman, whose company supplies electricity to much of the western suburbs, says power had been brought back to the majority of households.

He said a tin roof had been blown off a shop on Friday which hit power lines and caused outages.

An SP Ausnet spokeswoman said about 400 homes in Melbourne's outer east, including Healesville, were still without power on Saturday morning but crews were working to restore electricity.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Richard Carlyon says Victoria can expect 10 to 20 millimetres of rain on Saturday night and Sunday morning with light to variable winds.
