Waitangi Day
Waitangi Day commemorates an important day in New Zealand's history.
February 6th celebrates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840 between Maori and Europeans.
As with many Waitangi Day celebrations, this year has brought controversies - with an entry fee for Pakeha media standing at $1,000 and raising questions of racism.
With the public holiday falling on a Sunday, this year's Waitangi Day has created a political issue of whether to 'Mondayise' public holidays or not.
