Christmas lights up around the world

A semi-detached house is lit up with exterior Christmas lights on December 16, 2011 in Melksham, England. The trend to decorate the exterior of houses - which became popular in the USA during the 1960s - continues in the UK despite the continuing gloomy economic forecast, with some of the larger displays raising money for charitable causes.
