The Greens are worried about Solid Energy's new coal gasification project near Huntly but the company says its technology is safe. The $22 million pilot, which involves setting fire to coal underground so gas is released and collected, is operating and due to be upgraded to commercial level. The Greens' energy spokesman, Gareth Hughes, says it's a dangerous new technique.
