MetService has issued a severe thunderstorm watch this morning for much of the North Island. It's warning people in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Waitomo, Taumarunui and Taranaki. It comes with a very active cold front expected to move across central and northern New Zealand this morning with showers and squally thunderstorms.
