A rowdy protest has greeted Education Minister Hekia Parata ahead of a speech about the government's education funding changes, which will see increased class sizes and many schools lose teachers. The government says it will save $43 million with a new ratio of one teacher to 27.5 pupils, announced in last week's budget. Current ratios range from between 23 and 29 in each class and the new rule would mean bigger classes in most schools.
